Having been serving at various senior posts of Gima, Turkey’s first organized retailers chain, for a period more than eighteen years, Aykaç began serving for BİM in 1997 as the Sales General Manager. Having become the Chief of Operations (COO) as of November 2007, he resumes his services as the Executive Board Member (as of January 2010) alongside his COO position. He won the Most Successful Professional Manager Award in 2010 at the Retail Sun Awards, as being the most prestigious award of the retailing sector. Galip Aykaç further serves as the Member of Turkish Retailing Council, established by the Union of Chambers and Commodity Exchanges, Board Member of the Union of the Shopping Malls and Retailers, and Vice-Chairman of the Food Retailers Association. Aykaç was ranked by Fortune Magazine as 3rd among the best businessmen of the years 2013 and 2014, and as 2nd in 2015. In the survey conducted in 2013 by Xsights Research and Consultancy Company for Marketing Turkey Journal, he was ranked 7th among “the most influential managers of the business world”.
