Mehmet Göçmen was born in Bursa in 1957. After completing his undergraduate studies in the Department of Industrial Engineering at Middle East Technical University in 1981, he pursued postgraduate studies in Industrial Engineering and Operations Research at Syracuse University in 1983.

He began his career at Çelik Halat ve Tel Sanayi A.Ş. and served as Project Manager, Commercial Marketing Director, and Board Member between 1982 and 1996. Thanks to his contributions to product development processes during his tenure, the company significantly increased its export potential.

Between 1996 and 2003, he held the positions of General Manager and Vice President for Business Development and External Relations at Lafarge, a leading brand in construction materials. During his time there, he substantially expanded Lafarge's customer portfolio.

From 2003 to 2008, he served as the General Manager of Akçansa Çimento A.Ş. During his tenure, he made significant contributions to the growth processes of Akçansa and other cement companies in the group, including KArçimsa and Çimsa. Between 2008 and 2011, Mehmet Göçmen held the position of Group President for Human Resources at Sabancı Holding, where he played a role in strategic leadership, talent management, diversity, and positioning Human Resources as a business partner.

From 2011 to 2014, he continued to serve as the President of the Cement Group at Sabancı Holding. In the years 2014-2017, he assumed the role of President of the Energy Group at Sabancı Holding. Between 2017 and July 2019, Mehmet Göçmen served as the CEO and Board Member of Sabancı Holding. He currently continues his professional career as a Management Consultant.
