After graduating from İzmir American High School, he completed his undergraduate studies in Industrial Engineering at Bilkent University. He earned his master's degree in Economics from Bocconi University. He served as an economist at the World Bank's Ankara Office for four years. Before joining the World Bank, he worked as an economist for three years at the Centre for European Policy Studies (CEPS) in Brussels. He has published articles and reports on the competitiveness of trade in Turkey, regional competitiveness, and innovation policies. He is still a board member of the Economic and Foreign Policy Research Center (EDAM). Can also gives talks on global and Turkish trends and consumer habits.
