Prof. Selva Demiralp is a faculty member in the Economics Department at Koç University and the Chair of the Yapı Kredi Economic Research Chair. She earned her undergraduate degree from Boğaziçi University and her Ph.D. from the University of California, Davis. After working as an economist at the Federal Reserve Board in the United States from 2000 to 2005, Prof. Demiralp joined the Economics Department at Koç University in 2005. Since 2016, she has been serving as the Director of the Koç University-TÜSİAD Economic Research Forum.
Over the past decade, Demiralp has collaborated with numerous central banks, including the Federal Reserve, the European Central Bank (ECB), and the Central Bank of the Republic of Turkey (TCMB), and has also served as an advisor to the ECB. Her insights on the Turkish economy are frequently featured in both domestic and international media platforms, including The New York Times, the Financial Times, the Wall Street Journal, Reuters, and The Economist. She currently writes about economics for BBC Turkish.
