Altan Çakır completed his master's degree in theoretical particle physics at İzmir Institute of Technology (IYTE) in 2006. He was then accepted into the doctoral program at Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT) in Germany with a scholarship (LBW Stipendium) and obtained his Ph.D. in 2010. Since 2016, he has been working as a faculty member in the Department of Physics Engineering at Istanbul Technical University (ITU). Altan Çakır is involved in scientific activities with the ITU-CMS group at CERN and serves as a board member of the ITU Artificial Intelligence and Data Science and Applications Research Center. Currently, Altan Çakır is engaged in detector electronics, advanced data analysis methods, and the application of machine learning techniques to big data analytics in research projects at DESY, Fermilab, and CERN. However, his group’s work exhibits interdisciplinary diversity, spanning from scientific research and detector electronics to business intelligence data analytics used in industrial and economic fields.
Prof. Dr. Altan Çakır has worked on international research projects at ITU, KIT, DESY, Fermilab, and CERN over the past 15 years and is currently continuing his work at CERN under European Union, Turkish Atomic Energy Authority (TAEK), TÜBİTAK, and ITU projects. Along with his students, Prof. Dr. Altan Çakır is involved in a wide range of group studies across various fields and is dedicated to training the next generation of researchers and data scientists who will work in academia, government, and the business world.
