İpek Özbey began her journalism career in 1990 with Söyleşi magazine. She has worked as an editor and reporter at HBB, Kanal 6, NTV, CNN Türk, and Kanal D. She held the position of News Director at Tempo Magazine and served as the Publishing Coordinator for Hürriyet Pazar. Özbey has also been responsible for the Monday Interviews at both Hürriyet and Cumhuriyet newspapers. At Halk TV, she prepared and presented the programs Kadraj and Sansürsüz while also serving as the channel’s Program Coordinator.
While continuing her interviews for Sözcü Newspaper, Özbey prepares and presents the programs Nokta Atışı and Karşı Karşıya on Sözcü TV. She has authored several books, including the novel Kırık Matruşka, Manşet: Türkiye Konuşuyor, a compilation of her interviews, 15 Temmuz: Demokrasi Kahramanları, which details the experiences of families of those who lost their lives on July 15, and Dragos, which recounts the Adnan Oktar operation.
Özbey is the General Secretary of PEN Turkey and IPI Turkey, and has received the ÇGD Uğur Mumcu Award and the TGC Success Award.
