Renay Onur graduated from the Middle East Technical University with a degree in Mechanical Engineering and completed his MBA at Bilkent University. With 18 years of management experience in finance, strategy, and business development across various sectors and countries, sports has been a significant part of his life since middle school, where he participated in swimming and water polo teams at the Mülkiye Sports Club.
He enjoys swimming, water polo, running, cycling, triathlon, mountaineering, and skiing. He has completed the Istanbul swimming race four times, the 15 km stage of the marathon nine times, and the 42 km stage six times, along with marathons and ultra-marathons reaching up to 80 km both domestically and internationally.
Onur has held executive and board positions in companies across telecommunications, renewable energy, real estate, hospitality, and entertainment sectors. He is a co-founder of "Adım Adım," an initiative aimed at providing resources to and strengthening NGOs through physical activity and sports. Adım Adım has become Turkey's most significant sports and volunteerism project, uniting over 100,000 runners, more than 100 NGOs, and over one million donors.
He is the recipient of the 2022 Mustafa Koç Sports Award from the Turkish National Olympic Committee and Koç Holding. Recognized as an Ashoka Fellow for creating an innovative model that enhances individual philanthropy through sports in Turkey, he is part of a global network of social entrepreneurs with 3,500 members. Additionally, he is a founder and board member of Açık Açık Derneği, an organization focused on promoting transparency and accountability in civil society, and is a member of the Turkish National Olympic Committee (TMOK).
