Osman Cevdet Akçay was the Chief Economist of the Economic Research Department at Koç Financial Services and Yapi Kredi until May 2018. He holds a Bachelor's degree in Economics from Boğaziçi University and M.Phil and Ph.D degrees from New York City University Graduate School and University Center. He worked as a faculty member at Boğaziçi University from 1992 to 2001 and then joined Koç University as a Senior Lecturer until 2009. During 2001-2009, he also served as the Chief Economist at Koçbank and Yapi Kredi Bank. His research focuses on exchange rates, debt dynamics, and disinflation in Turkey. Currently, he provides freelance consulting services on the Turkish economy and portfolios to foreign investors and banks. He also supported the Turkish Ministry of Finance and Treasury from July to November 2018.
